Madras Radio

Madras Radio, now AIR Chennai, remains a symbol of Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural heritage. Radio transmission began in India in the 1920s, with trials in Bombay (now Mumbai) and Calcutta (now Kolkata). Soon after, Madras established itself as a prominent radio hub. All India Radio was established in 1936, with Madras Radio serving as one of its key stations.
